DeeTee's Hughes 500E Winter 2006/2007 Build Project

We decided we would need something to work on this winter. Just this morning (11/08/2006) we ordered a 50 size Hughes MD500E Scale Fuselage from Helicopter World. Our plan is to squeeze T Rex 600 mechanics into it to see if it will fit and fly, of course. The Align RC T Rex 600 is such a smooth flying, precise Electric 50 size, we cannot resist giving this a try. Way back about 9 or 10 years ago, we had one of these bodies on a Kyosho Concept 30 size glow machine. We had such fun with that thing, we wanted to go back and do it again on a 50 size. The Hughes 500E has always been my favorite and have wanted to do this for a long time. The Hughes 500E is large and very roomy inside. So, this project has excellant possibilities. The fuselage should be here early next week and we will post pics of the instalation (If it works). We truly have a burning desire to "make" it work. This is intended to be a "FunScale" project. So, heavy scale details will not be applied.

Unfortunately, our beautiful Hughes 500E crashed at the Sept Brooks, Oregon RC Heli event. With Russ M at the sticks, and in mild forward flight, one of the links came off the swashplate. One main blade came around and hit the tail. That stopped the rotor head dead still. Then it free fell from about 50 feet. The mechs are fine. The body was trashed.
We feel very fortunate that we got at least 30 excellant succesful flights on this beautiful machine, along with 2 very nice videos and 2 trophies at a scale event.
It is our intention to purchase an unpainted body and have our friend in the local area, John Hubbard, paint it with our own paint scheme. That will be this winters project for us as time permits.
